I've been having an incredible experience at South Bay Music Conservatory! The violin rental process was super smooth and affordable, which made starting out so much easier. If I have questions about something I get answers quickly Which I definitely appreciate The classes are fantastic, and my teacher Megan is truly excellent. She's been so patient as I work through the basics like 'Pepperoni Pizza' and move into new techniques. I'm especially grateful that they let me record my lessons. Being able to listen back to them has been a huge help for my practice at home. Highly recommend them for anyone looking to start an instrument!

I’ve been taking violin lessons here as a young adult beginner since July 2025, and I can’t say enough wonderful things about my instructors, Emily and Megan. They are incredibly patient, kind, and wise teachers who make learning the violin feel both approachable and exciting. I took piano lessons as a kid but never learned how to read music well. Coming back to music as an young adult—while juggling school and a full-time job—I honestly didn’t know if I could pick it up. But thanks to Emily and Megan’s thoughtful guidance, I’m becoming more and more confident in reading music and growing as a violinist. Their teaching style meets you exactly where you are, and they create such a supportive environment that makes every lesson something to look forward to. I highly recommend South Bay Music Conservatory to anyone who wants to learn the violin at any age, or anyone who wants to reconnect with their musical journey after a break. This place has truly made learning music meaningful and enjoyable again! ^-^

South Bay Music Conservatory has provided an incredibly supportive, enriching, and inspiring musical environment for our children over the last several years. Our family has been part of South Bay Music Conservatory since January 2022, when our son first started violin there at 6 years old, and more recently our daughter began taking piano lessons last summer. It has been such a meaningful experience for our family. What started as learning Twinkle on violin turned into years of musical, technical, and personal growth. The studio teaches Suzuki violin repertoire while also expanding into other repertoire as students advance, including pieces such as Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Elgar’s Salut d’Amour, and Mozart Concerto No. 3, which has been a great balance. We’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing teachers at the studio over the years. Ms. Emily, the owner and director of the studio, helped start his violin journey with so much patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm that she really fueled his love for music from the beginning. Ms. Megan and Mr. Luke, who joined the studio as it has grown larger, helped elevate his playing tremendously, both technically and musically. Mr. Benton, the studio's cello and ensemble teacher, has done a fantastic job leading ensemble programs and quartet opportunities — including pieces like Eine Kleine Nachtmusik — that taught the students how to play and grow together. We also appreciate Ms. Sarah, the studio’s viola teacher, who gave him an opportunity to explore viola while participating in quartet activities, which was a great stretch experience for a young musician. One thing we’ve especially appreciated as his violin studies progressed over the last 4 years is the exposure to multiple violin teachers within the studio. Different teachers bring different perspectives, teaching styles, and approaches to technique and musical interpretation, and having access to that variety has been incredibly valuable for his musical development. For piano, Ms. Milaena has been incredible with our daughter, who started her musical journey more recently. She has such a natural ability with kids and creates a fun, supportive environment that makes children excited to learn. She also serves as the piano accompanist for the string performers, and her ability to accompany students of varying experience levels is remarkable. What makes SBMC special is that it’s much more than just weekly lessons. The studio offers other enrichment opportunities such as outreach performances at senior living communities, twice-yearly recitals, masterclasses, ensembles, quartets, annual picnics, Hollywood Bowl outings, and other activities that help students and families really get to know one another. There’s also a genuinely supportive community culture there. Parents volunteer to help with recital photos, videos, refreshments, and events because people truly care about the studio and the kids. The focus isn’t only on becoming better musicians, but also on confidence, teamwork, responsibility, and personal growth. It's truly a unique and special culture. It’s been really wonderful seeing how the studio has evolved over the years with more teachers, more programs, and more opportunities for students. Emily continues to put so much thought and energy into growing and improving the experience for the students and families. We’re very grateful for everything South Bay Music Conservatory has meant to our family and for the role it continues to play in our children’s musical journeys.

Emily is the best! My daughter absolutely loves her lessons with her. She does such a great job balancing learning and fun, as well as teaching self confidence and skill. Wonderful community of parents and overall such a good experience.

This is such a great music school for learning violin and other instruments. There are many opportunities for student recitals, which is so essential to practice and elevate the skills learned in lessons. I highly recommend Emily as a teacher and choosing this school.
