Very good tempura i highly reccomend their special tempura bowl. Batter is very thin and crispy with good flavor. The sauce it came with was also a perfect blend of savory and sweet. Their shrimp tempura was a little soft but otherwise everything else was perfect.
Great spot for soba and tempura. Set boxes were under $20 and was filling. They also have side purchases for additional piece of tempura (shrimp, chicken, veggies, etc) Parking behind restaurant and also street parking near and around the restaurant. Service was great and very welcoming. Recommend getting any of the set pieces to enjoy.
I have been to this establishment about 5 times in the last 2 years, and inconsistency has been my biggest problem. I always order the combo of small tempura bowl with cold soba. In my experience, the tempura is really good when I have them for early lunch, when the restaurant has just opened. For the other times, I found the coating to be too thick and shrimp overfried, which was the case for today. As for the service, servers are polite and fast moving, but lacks attention during busy times. For example, when we went today, the eating hall was half empty, but became fully filled when we got our food. Our server came to our table twice, once to take my finished tray away, then a second time to bring our check. Both times, my wife was still eating, being half done with her food while my water cup was empty and never filled. It felt like they were in a hurry to rush us out than to serve us. Besides those 2 times, the server never checked on us with any question or asking if we need anything. I ended up tipping 9.9% which is something I have not done for 10 years. I guess I was very unhappy with the service and food quality I received today. I probably will try out different tempura places before returning to this one.
Solid japanese tempura rice bowl. Cold soba noodle is amazing as well. Solid a plus restaurant. Taste guaranteed
A couple weeks ago, was walking around old Torrance when I saw a bunch of people waiting in line to get seated here. Decided to try it today and it was delicious. The tempura was very light and wonderfully seasoned. We also got a dragon roll and it was also delicious.
