Kumon at Porter Ranch has been great! Although it was not our intention, the Kumon packets gradually taught our son how to read when he was 4 and he reading skills and vocabulary has continued to excel since then. For this reason, we eventually enrolled our younger son too and he is now learning to read as well. Miss Churi has been wonderful and so sweet, I know she cares very much for her students and their families.

As a current student learning in Kumon, I can say that I have had a very positive experience learning here over the past 3-4 years. Sure, I first was against the idea of attending Kumon, but my parents enrolled me nevertheless. As time passed, the subject gradually got harder and more difficult, which I very much enjoy. From my personal experience, I never saw a teacher be judgmental, but again, it is solely from my own experience. In fact, I had only seen teachers be helpful and caring towards their students and colleagues. I want to give a big thank you to Sean for always helping me whenever I needed it. These teachers may not remember how to help you right away, but lets be honest- who has a perfect memory of every single theorem and formula from the 1st grade math to calculus? In the end, they try their best to help you as much as they can, and they succeed in doing so with flying colors. To sum it up, I think Kumon, especially at this location, is an amazing way to help you (or your child) get ahead in school!

My children have been going to this center for a year and half now and they are thriving. Kumon has helped supplement their learning and as a parent I can gage where their understanding of Math and English is, in addition to what is taught at school. Kumon is under a new management now, since I think September of 2022, my kids love going in person and or just working independently on their work sheets. Their attitude towards learning is more positive and that is Huge in itself.

Silly me for expecting an individualized and caring approach from this center as stated on their website. Walked in with the hope of getting support for my son and left with him feeling embarrassed and judged by the tutor who administered his placement exam. To make matters worse, I was extremely offended as the tutor talked down to me as though I didn’t understand the level of commitment required or the importance of foundational skills. Perhaps they should take a moment to learn about their clients before making assumptions. I have two degrees and have worked in the tech field for several major companies throughout California. I kept it professional, but definitely won’t be giving my money to this center. Their curriculum is nothing more than a cookie cutter based program that doesn’t take the individual needs or learning styles of students into account. Seems like it’s more about the money than helping your child succeed.
