We had an excellent time at Gallaghers Steakhouse during our stay in New York. We chose to diner at the bar, which allowed us to fully enjoy the authentic and lively atmosphere of the place. As for the food, everything was outstanding. The filet mignon beef is of exceptional quality: it was perfectly cooked, beautifully seared on the outside while remaining warm at the center absolutely delicious. We also tried the veal parmigiana, which was incredibly generous. The portion is huge ! A special thank you as well to Stewart, who served us at the bar with great professionalism and kindness. His welcoming attitude and attention really made the experience even more enjoyable. An iconic address that we highly recommend.
Our experience at the Gallagher’s was excellent! We went for late lunch arrived at 2:15pm for our reservation on Tuesday and place was pretty packed. Appreciated the welcoming hospitality from staff members and old school yet dapper atmosphere. Very importantly the food did not disappoint. We ordered porter house for two and two lunch specials ( 3 course deal is probably the best lunch deal in the city). Manhattan chowder was very good and Lamb chops with house made mint sauce was also nice. and filet mignon was very tender and cooked well. Highlight of the meal was the flavorful dry aged porter house. Waiter told us it was 28days old , but wasn’t too buttery and was cooked to perfection! Very delicious and flavorful. I saw the banana split on the dessert menu and had to order them. And It was an excellent decision. Wonderful classic spot to visit can wait to return. I highly recommend Gallagher’s to everyone.
I’ve lived in NY and been back countless times, and somehow this was my first visit to Gallagher’s. No idea how I waited this long. The steaks were seriously impressive. Both the tomahawk and the strip loin came out perfectly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside, exactly what you hope for at a classic steakhouse. Easily one of the top 10 steaks I’ve ever had. That deep, smoky crust with the rich beefy flavor… so good. The bacon was decent, personally I’d love it a bit thicker but it still hit the spot. The sides were solid and generous, nothing flashy, just dependable and well done. Service was surprisingly warm and attentive, honestly better than some other old-school spots around town. The whole experience just felt right. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner. Definitely coming back.
Gallagher’s was a great steakhouse experience. We just flew in and wanted to find a steakhouse in Manhattan. When we arrived we were warmly greeted (we had a reservation). The staff was attentive and our waiter, Mr. Nicholas, was fantastic. We ordered: Appetizers - Crab cake (you get one giant one per order), was awesome. Great flavor and a ton of crab. Calamari - tender and lightly breaded, and a wedge salad with blue cheese - delicious. Entrees- Rib Steak, medium rare - cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Great char and incredibly tender., with sides of Mac and cheese and garlic fried green beans (this was the best side dish). It was a pricier dinner, but for the experience, quality of food, and the ambiance of a great Manhattan, New York restaurant - it was well worth it. I would highly recommend Gallagher’s, what a great dinner experience and service.
We celebrated my sister’s 39th birthday here, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The shrimp cocktail was incredibly fresh and flavorful — the perfect way to kick off the evening. The filet was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor, and the asparagus was seasoned beautifully and complemented the meal perfectly. To top it all off, the birthday desserts were such a special touch and made the celebration even more memorable. The entire experience felt celebratory and elevated. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate — highly recommend for a special occasion!
