Was a nice cozy and warm, welcoming was fantastic. Seating was quick. Food was excellent. However, table are very tiny seating are very tight. Music was nice was expecting more. No one singing just playing on instrument player was professional not up to my test.
Let’s start with the good part: the atmosphere is incredible. Red velvet, candlelight, and live jazz so close you can feel the bass through your glass. The cocktails are top-tier, and the food easily outperforms what most music venues even attempt. My crab cakes were crisp perfection, the salad was fresh, and the service stayed calm even with a packed house. Now for the part that ruined the vibe. The mandatory entrée rule. I came for drinks and small plates, happily spent several times the cost of an entrée, and was still told I had to order one or leave it uneaten. It felt like a cheap money grab at a place that otherwise screams class. Nothing kills the mood faster than being told your perfectly good dinner order isn’t “enough.” I still respect the music and the kitchen, both are excellent, but that policy left a bad taste I can’t ignore. Three stars. Great night, unnecessary greed.
The new Smoke is a massive upgrade. The venue is much larger now, which means the bar has leveled up—the cocktails are easily some of the best in the city. The kitchen is still undefeated; the food is as awesome as ever. We saw Theo Croker, and while it was a modern, stripped-back set, the band was incredibly sharp. The Music: A very cool, modern jazz feel. The Twist: Even without a DJ or heavy electronics, Theo and the band held it down. The Talent: Theo’s trumpet work was top-tier, and the ensemble playing was seamless. A great night of music that actually fills the bigger room perfectly. Between the great kitchen and the martinis, it’s still one of the best dinner show in town.
There's no other Jazz Club like Smoke. I've been going there for years before the renovation. It maintains it's status of elegance, great management, good food and service. I go to many jazz clubs that honestly aren't excellent in all these categories. The musicians are some of the greats. Thank you for maintaing your excellan e.
We went to Smoke Jazz & Supper Club last night and had an incredible time. The show was absolutely amazing, especially the Monk tribute, which was unbelievable. Both the food and the performance exceeded our expectations. We had the octopus, NY strip, and coq au vin, and everything was cooked perfectly. Such a great experience all around.
