I absolutely loved visiting the Morgan Library & Museum. It’s one of those places in New York that truly feels like a hidden gem. The moment you walk into the historic library room, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling shelves of rare books and manuscripts, it feels like stepping into another era. What makes this place special is the incredible combination of history, art, and architecture. Originally the private library of J. P. Morgan, it now houses hundreds of thousands of objects—including illuminated medieval manuscripts, early printed books, drawings, and works of art spanning thousands of years. The museum does a fantastic job blending the historic spaces with modern galleries and exhibitions. When I visited, the exhibitions were beautifully curated and gave a deeper appreciation for literature, art, and storytelling across centuries. If you’re in New York and looking for a museum that’s elegant, peaceful, and incredibly unique, this is absolutely worth the visit. A perfect place to slow down, admire beautiful spaces, and explore some truly fascinating pieces of history.
Great location with beautiful collections of writing - books and tools use to write. I was lucky enough to join my daughters class as a chaperone and the kids all had great questions, a lot due to the fabulous tour guide. Beautiful art work, too.
I couldn’t miss the special Renoir paintings exhibition, which was displayed in a separate gallery and beautifully curated. The library itself is absolutely impressive from the moment you walk in—the decor, the exquisite details, and the finishes are stunning. The lighting is beautiful and makes the entire space feel even more special. I truly loved the experience and I would definitely come back again.
The Morgan Library & Museum is such a hidden gem in NYC. It’s not a huge museum, but the place is absolutely gorgeous and feels really peaceful compared to the bigger, more crowded museums. The library rooms are the highlight — they’re super old-school and classic, like stepping into a private library from another era. The dark wood, tall bookshelves, and the whole vintage vibe make it feel really special in person. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to look that impressive. It’s a great spot if you want something cultural but not exhausting. I’d definitely come back again.
Fridays from 5pm to 8pm is free admission! It was really crowded so if you don't like that, definitely recommend paying the fee and going during the day. They did have live music playing that I guess is a special thing they do during Friday free event. The art work was incredible and the library was absolutely breathtaking! They did an amazing job preserving the history of this place.
