Inside, the cafe is spacious and attractive. With giant windows, lots of light, and a large library display along one entire wall, there's a nice, studious ambiance for anyone looking to pass a few hours chatting with a friend or getting some work done (to that end, free Wifi available). There's also a nice variety of seating choices for all group sizes - with lower two- and four-top tables for small groups and higher seating by the front window. There's a decent amount of pastries on display along the queueing area, but from our last few visits here, it seems that the drinks and specialty desserts (bubble teas and specialty desserts like the shaved ices) are most popular. Since many of these are made-to-order, the line moves at a snail-like pace. During our last visit, the line crawled to a standstill for nearly ten minutes as the few workers struggled to get preceding orders out before accepting new ones. As a result, we had a ton of time to decide on what we wanted. It was a disappointing surprise to find out both our first and second choices were unavailable. The bingsoo, for instance, is a summer-only item, and they had no bubbles left for the bubble tea we wanted. Hung dry, we impulsively ordered two scoops of gelato - pistachio and matcha - both of which were squarely in the 'not sweet' category of Asian desserts. In fact, they were almost bitter and unlikeable. We also grabbed some walnut cookies, which turned out to be well past their prime and almost dry and crumbly in texture. While I had some qualms with quality and menu availability, I ended up enjoying my visit anyhow, as this was still a nice cafe to sit and pass the time. If you're needing a comfortable spot to work or people watch (with a more standard drink order in mind), this is a neat spot to do so. The cafe is part of a larger complex, and there's a decently sized parking lot attached.
This is a great, spacious cafe right here in Fort Lee. I come here usually to study or just chill out after a meal. While I can't really speak to the specific flavor profiles—as I'm not a coffee expert—I can say it's a usual, reliable cafe. The setup and seating are comfortable, making it a great place to settle in for a while. If you’re looking for a spot with plenty of room and a good vibe for productivity or relaxation, this is the place.
Caffe Bene 1636 Palisade Ave. Fort Lee, NJ 07024 Affogato This cozy café has a lot of spacious seating with comfortable chairs. WiFi is available making it convenient to entertain yourself with a wireless device. If you do not wish to use any electronics, feel free to grab a book from their shelves. In addition, there is also a jewelry kiosk inside the store. While the amenities in this cafe are nice, their dessert drink was not. This is one of the worst affogatos I ever tasted and the even the portion size was too small. If I give this location another chance, I will be sure to try some of their pastries. Otherwise, the facilities in the café are perfect. #caffebene #affogato #fortleenj #cafete
Came here to have lunch with my sister. Wasn’t disappointed. We had tea and sandwiches and some pastries. The sandwiches were delicious! We both enjoyed I enjoyed the aesthetics of the place. Very cozy and inviting. They have a little shop indoors were you can purchase affordable jewelry - mink accessories made in Korea. So unique! Will certainly be back whenever in the area.
I visited Caffe Bene on Friday around 5:30 PM with my daughter My cousin and her child, bothof whom have severe allergies. We came specifically to try the mango bingsu and have coffee and fully intended to order over $30 worth of items. Because this was our first visit and due to the children’s allergies and picky eating, one had a drink and the other a snack with them so they would not be left watching us eat if there were no safe options for them. The café was almost empty. There was only Two guest with laptops in different tables. As I stepped up to place our order, the two employees behind the counter abruptly told us that the children could not have their drinks or food inside they said “throw it away or have them eat outside.) (It was below 10 degrees outside) they never greeted us. They weren’t friendly They just looked at us and basically kicked us out. There was no kindness, no explanation of policy, and no attempt at accommodation, despite us actively trying to order. Being told to throw away food especially food (snack) brought for children with allergies felt unnecessary and humiliating. What made this experience more upsetting was how singled out we felt. In a space known for its Wi-Fi and for customers sitting for long periods of time, it is common to see people with water bottles or small snacks while purchasing from the café. Yet we were immediately confronted and spoken to in a cold, dismissive manner. As a Hispanic family, the interaction felt uncomfortable and discriminatory. The tone and treatment made us feel unwelcome and targeted, rather than simply informed of a policy. In today’s climate, where inclusivity and respect matter more than ever especially among minority communities experiences like this stand out. After leaving, I returned to look for any visible signage stating that outside food or drinks were not allowed and did not see any I took pictures/ video. A Korean family happened to walk in and was immediately greeted warmly, spoken to with smiles, and asked if they needed help. The contrast in tone and treatment was noticeable and difficult to ignore, especially considering how abruptly and coldly we had been spoken to just minutes earlier. Policy is one thing. How it is enforced and who it is enforced against matters. We chose to leave without ordering. After reading other recent reviews describing similar treatment, this unfortunately seems to be a pattern of racism. I hope management takes a serious look at how customers are spoken to and how situations involving families and food allergies are handled in the future.
