When it came time for a haircut, I remembered Kang Hair Salon, where I'd been the other day, and decided to write a post. I usually get my hair done at my regular salon in Koreatown, but since I didn't have anything special to do, I went to a nearby salon. The hairdresser's skills were excellent, and I was very satisfied. After my hair was done, I asked, "How much would you like?" and she said, "Twenty-five dollars, please." I pulled out a twenty-dollar bill and paused for a moment. Then I pulled out another twenty-dollar bill and gave it to her. Since it was twenty-five dollars, I figured I should give her a five-dollar bonus, so I gave her a thirty-dollar bill and left. I'd had a rare luxury, getting a haircut for $12, including tip, after a $10 cut in Koreatown. Imagine how embarrassing it would have been if I'd left with only a twenty-dollar bill. The reason I'm writing this is to inform senior men who go to Kang's Hair Salon that they should bring at least $30 to save face. For reference, senior women's haircuts cost $13. I also have a suggestion for the salon: please post a sign at the entrance saying, "Senior Men's Haircut $25," so as not to offend the pride of older customers. The hair stylist was truly excellent.
