I used to have high maintenance hair (bleached blonde pixie) and for that I (almost) didn't mind paying $350+. However, once I went back to my natural color and grew it out to a bob, paying $160+ just to get basically a trim started to feel excessive... I asked a friend whose hair always looks freshly done, how often she goes to a hair salon and how much she pays, and almost fell off the chair when she replied. (No wonder she doesn't think twice about going every 4-6 weeks!) So now my friend's hair dresser, Monica, at Adam Beauty Salon is also my hair dresser. I've been to her several times already and I am very happy. It's a small no-frills salon in Koreatown, run by two lovely Korean ladies (I think they may be mother and daughter). Besides the price, there are quite a few things I like about getting my haircut by Monica at Adam Beauty: 1. I have always been able to call and get an appointment at a short notice. 2. Monica takes great care in wrapping my neck and covering my clothes before getting started, so I never feel like I need to take a shower and change the moment I get home after a haircut. 3. Monica cuts my very fine Northern European hair very carefully. She is not distracted by chatting or checking her phone - she just quietly works away. (I show her a picture of what I want first.) 4. The salon is clean and quiet. I have never enjoyed going to busy, noisy salons, no matter how pretty and fancy they may look. And I definitely don't enjoy small talk... For introverts like me, Monica is as good as it gets!! 5. I don't know if I have unusually sensitive scalp or if my previous hair stylists have all been rough, but every previous experience has involved some pain as the hair people used their fingernails to "massage" my scalp, and pulling and yanking my hair throughout the process. So I used to think that going to a hair salon hurts 🤷‍♀️😩 Monica, on the other hand, is very gentle and every haircut with her has been 100% painless. 6. Easy to get to, and free street parking right in front, on Olympic! Couple of things to know: it's cash only. Bring a photo to show what you want your haircut to look like. And you may want to wash your hair before going! (They do have sinks, and my friend also gets her hair colored there, but shampoo may be an extra service you'd have to ask for - I'm not sure. The first time I went, Monica didn't offer and I didn't ask. Since then I've made it a habit to go in with wet, just shampood hair. And I walk out with nicely cut and blowdried hair :) They also cut men's and kids' hair. (I've seen my friend's tween son's hair after being cut by Monica - and it looks fantastic!)

My first visit to the Beauty shop was a wonderful experience! My daughter loves her stylist, Ellen, and she recommended her to me. I was amazed by Ellen because she gave me a wonderful hair treatment and hair cut. I was comfortable at all times. Thank you so much for your help, guys! I will be proud to come back as a loyal customer!

As the days go by, I like it more and more. The price is good and the atmosphere is comfortable, so I like it even more.
