Fresh Salad Bar and Hot Foods to go. I really enjoyed the big selections of fresh salad and hot roast chickens that came as a whole one or 1/2. There was ready to eat macaroni cheese. Hot chicken bites with chilli sauce. Chicken wings, potato wedges, Chicken thigh pieces, cooked vegetables all very nice. We had sushi on other days to try as much foods as possible! There is just so much more…
Racist store!! Avoid the Whole Foods in Hudson Yards if you are a person of color. You will be racially profiled and intensely watched just for browsing and shopping. Last week my friend was in the health aisle and after 5 minutes, a security guard walked over and started watching his every move (read Anthony's review from last week). But when I went there today to investigate, I noticed that a white woman was able to shop in the same aisle for several minutes and no security was present. See attached picture. Last week, my friend said the security guard walked over and stood near the large black & white column in the background. But this week, no security showed up when the white lady was shopping. Interesting that the column is black & white, because it symbolizes the disparate treatment you will experience if you are a black customer!
Mixed feelings. Feels like bait and switch... today for example vent like one topping pizza special... so I asked fly mushroom. The shag said no mushrooms. I asked fly options. She told me to look at slicesin front of her. All nonvegetatian except for spinach and gasp!mushrooms. When pointed out mushrooms, she laughed and said well we have low supply. Similar situations occurred in the past with some products. It doesn't feel like whole foods. Three starts because when you're desperate, there are not many options nearby
One of the better Whole Foods in terms of layout but worst in terms of being under-staffed. Regularly have 1-2 registers open during rush hour with long lines. Amazon sucks - cost cutting what used to be a good market.
I went to this Whole Foods on Wednesday around 3:45pm to buy collagen powder. I was standing in the health/wellness aisle reading labels and taking my time, like anyone does when they’re trying to make the right purchase. After a few minutes, a security guard came over and stood there watching me. He stayed there for several minutes. As a Black man, it’s hard not to see this for what it was. I don’t believe this would’ve happened if I were white. I didn’t confront him. Instead, I went to customer service. They spoke to him and told me he apologized and that it wouldn’t happen again. I appreciated that but the damage was already done. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re being treated as “suspicious” just for browsing. I went straight to checkout and bought the $40 product I came in for. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was just shopping. I’m sharing this because no one should feel anxious, embarrassed, or singled out in a place they’re spending their money. This experience hurt, and it shouldn’t happen to anyone.
