Love Smile! Been going there for 7 years. They have everything you’d need and some nice specialty items. Staffs always friendly. Never had an issue. Anyone who says they are not should probably examine themselves and their own behaviors first. Smile staff are the best! Never had an issue with expired food either like someone else said. Will always go to smile first :) Also, the cat is awesome.
This place has been here for decades and is practically an institution by now. It could really use some updating, and greater variety of certain items (peanut butter, for example). Also certain groups of items - like ice cream - tend to be on the pricey side and there's never a sale to balance that. Unlike other reviewers, I've always found the cashiers to be friendly. Overall I don't find too much that I need here any longer, but it's a reliable place and good that it's in the neighborhood in case you need something.
Smile Deli typically provides good services and have fresh produce. Today I entered to buy juice, fruits, and other produce. The clerks and owner know me from the neighborhood. I was told that I will not be allowed entry if I do not have a mask on, even though I keep a six feet distance from other clients and employees on the floor and do not present with any symptoms. I think this ignorance and allowing fear to dictate how you should run your business is not right. They have just lost a loyal customer.
I like this place. It use to be 24 hrs. and a go to place late nites for me. The prices for the most part are okay. Now it seems they've changed their hours and i find it difficult to go there because of that. But i try to make it right when they open at 7 am so i'm in and out with my groceries. It's a better place than that other Korean grocery above Ft. Washington Ave.
This is one of the few small businesses that prevailed in 181st West of Broadway. Family owned, on the second generation. Know them since they open almost 40 years ago. Nice people, nice place.
