After a long day out in Manhattan and a fantastic meze lunch at the ilili NoMad Lebanese restaurant we just wanted a small snack this evening without having to go to far from the hotel. As we had previously bought & eaten a couple of delicious sandwiches from the Everyday Gourmet Deli, just 3 blocks from our hotel, we decided we would walk down to get a couple of their Pastrami sandwiches tonight. In addition to selling food to go, the Deli also sells groceries. In the food sections there's a manned counters for fresh cooked Korean food, a manned counter for fresh made sandwiches & burgers, a fresh pizza counter, large self-service heated trays with hot cooked food and large self-serve refrigerator trays with fresh salad, all bought by weight. My wife & I both ordered the pastrami sandwiches, with pastrami & corned beef freshly sliced for our sandwiches, cooked on the hot plate and served on toasted rye bread with Swiss cheese, coleslaw, mustard & mayonnaise. There's seating downstairs next to the food counter for customers to eat their purchases in the store, with signs saying there's also seating upstairs. We ordered our sandwiches to go, to eat back at the hotel. After picking up our sandwiches from the cook at the counter, we took them to the cashier at the store entrance to pay for them. The pastrami & corned beef sandwiches from the Everyday Gourmet Deli are absolutely the best sandwiches we have ever eaten.
I wanted to really like this place but found a fly in my chirashi bowl. Luckily 3 bites in. Never again.
The crowded entrance convinced me this place was worth trying. The personnel at this establishment are some of the most cordial and amiable workers I've met, and they work diligently to make your evening enjoyable. I share my positive experiences here with everyone. All their food is consistently tasty. This restaurant delivers excellent service.
This place is strictly for the after hours munchies. That late night spot you can go at 3 a.m and get some grub. Having said that, they have a pretty good burger deal, 10 bucks for a burger, fries and a drink but the special only includes the drink during the day only, not at night when stumbling in at 3 a.m. Also not a bad option is the $10 sandwiches but you have to keep your sandwich very very basic. No veggies, the lettuce and tomatoes have probably been sitting out all day. so to review....Stay away from the salad bar and steam table unless you have to lose a quick 15lbs and want a case of food poisoning to achieve that goal and burgers and plain sandwiches good.
12/3/21. Everyday has all food stations operating. Only one side of the salad bar and hot plates are used. The best fried shrimps and ribs in the he block, 2 selections of fish and great fried Chicken!
