I've been to this place 10+ times. It's a small mom & pop spot, serving the type of Korean fare that you might expect. It's widely considered to be one of the best Korean joints in SD and I don't dispute that. But the star of the show is the Kimchi jiggae. I usually don't order Kimchi jiggae in restaurants, but the kimchi jiggae here is my absolute favorite, and I always get it. Their banchan is also simple yet excellent. If you want Korean food staples in SD, this is the place. Parking can be difficult, but it's Convoy, so you should know the drill.

The spicy raw crab at Chonjujib is amazing! So flavorful and pairs perfectly with the soup such a great combo. Definitely a must-order if you come here.

Small but cute restaurant. Went around 2:30 pm on a Wednesday, so it was pretty quiet. The staff were friendly and attentive. We got the raw marinated crab with the doenjang jjigae (Gejang combo), as well as the regular bibimbap. Both were generous portions, so we (two people) ended up taking home leftovers. The marinade on the crab was delicious but a little spicier than normal. The bibimbap had a lot of toppings underneath the lettuce. The doenjang jjigae had seafood in it which was also nice. Would highly recommend!

Such a great place to eat Korean food. Prices are reasonable. Flavor is very authentic. For a moment I felt I was jn Korea (never have been there lol) due to the food and atmosphere. I got scolded to not touch the plate LOL it was HOT. Would love to go back and try something different.

We came here because the reviews say that’s it’s a pretty solid place but we will never be back. We both got the bibimbap and it was one of the worst ones we have ever had. The amount of beef in it was actually laughable and it was shredded so much that it was in the smallest of pieces with no flavor. The bowl was filled with the cheapest ingredients like lettuce and rice and was missing the core of what makes a good bibimbap great — flavorful meat and veggies that compliment the bowl. It basically became a salad bowl with how much shredded lettuce was in the bowl. Banchans were lackluster. Wanted to love this place but painfully below average.
