Food i ate: beef tan tan nabe, premium chirashi, prime beef and pork belly kushiyaki, toro unagi bowl. Nigiri: sweet shrimp, bluefin, salmon, yellowtail About the food: quality is still top tier, which is why i came back after many years. Though a bit pricey, they dont skimp out. Worth the price. Dont get all of the below all at once. The umami can be a bit too much for some so it’s good to keep in mind to get smthng fresh Nabe: creamy and rich in umami 8/10 Premium chirashi: definitely worth its price but i wouldn't recommend the santa barbara uni. I had one bite and refused to eat more bc it just didnt taste like uni. Ofc i told the chef about it 9/10 Kushiyaki: they grilled it perfectly. Their sauce is sweet (not to my preference) but the meat were delicious. Prime beef is very rich in fat so it’s super smooth 7.5/10 Toro unagi bowl: didnt expect it but this was also on the sweeter side. Still delicious and fresh but wouldve preferred it to be less sweet 8.5/10 Vibes: go for the outdoor seating area, inside felt cramped and loud Drink recommendations: hot sake or kawaba sunrise ale. They complement well to reset the taste palette

One of my go-to spots for izakaya and sushi in LA 🍣 If you haven’t been to Izakaya Osen in Silverlake, you’re seriously missing out. This cozy spot has some of the best sushi, skewers, and Japanese comfort food in the city. Everything we ordered: ✨ Miso Crab Salmon — my all-time favorite dish here, always a must 🐙 Baby Octopus Karaage — perfectly crispy and tender 🍱 Premium Chirashi — beautifully plated with layers of fresh fish over sushi rice 🍲 Beef Tantan Nabe with Udon Noodles — cozy, rich, and full of flavor 🔥 Skewers — Sea Bass, Beef, and Bacon-Wrapped Enoki Mushrooms 🍧 Yuzu Sorbet — super light and refreshing 🍵 Matcha Mochi Coconut Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream — the perfect ending

Izakaya Osen continues to be one of my go-to spots for consistently excellent Japanese food. Came in for the Dine LA set menu and it was a great snapshot of what they do best. Salmon tsumire soup to start, followed by halibut with mizuna, seared toro with caviar and gold flakes, premium nigiri, golden eye snapper, amaebi with uni and caviar, yellowtail, and a really solid miso Chilean sea bass. Everything was clean, well balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. I skipped dessert and opted for a few extra pieces of nigiri instead, which felt like the right call. Fish quality was on point across the board. Also worth noting, their sister restaurant Omakase by Osen will be taking over this Silver Lake space, with Izakaya Osen moving just a few doors down on Sunset. Looking forward to seeing how both evolve. Reliable, high quality, and always a good meal. Easy place to recommend.

I normally don’t leave reviews but this place definitely deserves a five star!! The food is good, especially the spicy tuna over crispy rice, sashimi, and this seafood cream noodle. Green tea ice cream is also delicious! It is also a nice cute place to come with friends or for dates! Most importantly their service is just above and beyond. It was our first time here so our server were so nice she explained and recommended a lot for us. Every server here is super nice btw. And manager Chayuth is very friendly and offering help whenever needed. I’m definitely coming back for more food and this awesome service!!!😋

This was genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in LA. The quality of fish, especially the toro and Uni, was exceptional. I haven’t had toro that good since visiting Japan. I went for DineLA and got the $99 omakase - highly recommend. Only issue is even with a reservation, we had to wait 45min to be seated. Normally I’d find that unacceptable, but they gave us a free spicy crab dish for the wait, and ultimately the food got me in a better mood ;) staff was also great about explaining each dish.
