I felt left out as the only non-Korean person there (I’m Chinese). Luckily, one of two servers working that day spoke a little English, so she helped me order. However, I was craving clam kalguksu for lunch since I had it somewhere else a couple times. I must say that this place is superior to the other one I tried. The broth is kind of salty, but nothing too bad. Also had half of the kimchi pancake. It was pretty bomb. Would return if craving clam kalguksu!
Mung bean pancake was great. Probably our favorite thing. The anchovy kalguksu tasted more like a calm broth but too clammy for our taste. The acorn jelly salad was so bland. The dressing was too watery and didnt cling to the lettuce or acorn jelly. We also ordered fried fish and that was very dry.
It's a traditional Korean restaurant that has all the traditional foods. The best part about this restaurant is that they're foods are always consistent. The taste never changes & the atmosphere is greater. The waitresses are super nice and very attentive to your needs. You can't go wrong!....you gotta check it out!
Cold noodle - The cold noodles dish soup is kimchi sauce flavor and might be vegan as I did not taste any meat flavor in it. A lot of people rave about it. It is certainly not my favorite as I tend to prefer the one with beef flavor. Ox knee soup - this one tasted really good. I know to some ‘ox knee’ does not sound appetizing but this is the part that is very gelatinous and soft.
Cali is getting cold weather again, so you know what that means .. soup weather! Parking: They’re located in a very small plaza with very limited parking. We parked in a parking garage across the street. Free parking lot or parking garage. Ambiance/Environment: They have a medium sized space with a decent amount of seating. We visited during lunch time, and it was packed. They also have outdoor seating with a tent. Since it was busy inside, we sat outside. Service: Everyone was absolutely courteous, attentive, and quick! We were constantly checked on. We got the pleasure of meeting the owners, and they were absolutely sweet. Everyone speaks limited English but enough to get by. Foods: 1. Spicy Beef Soup - This was sooo delicious! There was a generous amount of beef! The soup was piping hot, which was perfect for the cold weather. The clear noodles were cooked well. 2. Spicy Fish Egg Casserole - The portion size was huge, so it is definitely shareable. The soup was flavorful! It had lots of tofu and vegetables. The casserole surprisingly wasn’t too chewy; it added a nice texture to the dish. 3. Bibimbap with brown rice + cabbage soup - The cabbage soup was good! The bibimbap was spicyyy. It contained a generous amount of rice and vegetables. No protein in this dish. 4. Boiled Dumpling - These were bigger than I thought! These dumplings were also FILLED! The filling was seasoned well and the outer layer was steamed to perfection. Pricing: LA is always expensive, but it was definitely worth it. The flavors were present and the portion sizes were generous for one dish.
