Absolutely loved my visit to Andante coffee! The espresso was perfectly balanced and smooth. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy a premium cup of coffee.
If your love language is whole-bean coffee, Andante is the kind of place that immediately earns your loyalty. My mission with any new coffee shop is simple: find great beans. Andante not only delivers on that front, but they go a step further with a perk that deserves applause, buy a bag of beans and get any drink for free. Not just drip. Not just a small. Any drink. That’s a power move. I picked up a 10oz bag and went with a Spanish Latte (because the internet said it was a fan favorite and the internet, for once, was absolutely right). Creamy, smooth, perfectly warm, and just sweet enough without overpowering the coffee. The Spanish Latte was indulgent in the best way. A total winner. Service was equally impressive. With only one person running the show, you’d expect things to feel rushed or chaotic, but instead it was calm, attentive, and genuinely kind. No awkward indifference. No robotic. Just someone who clearly cares. The shop itself is tiny, charmingly so. The outdoor seating feels like something you’d stumble upon in Japan or Australia, just enough space to sit, sip, and exist for a moment with your drink. It’s "intimate," and exactly what a neighborhood coffee stop should be, just in DTLA. The downsides are more about the surroundings, being in DTLA, than the shop. Smokers linger, and with such a small footprint, there’s no real escape from candy-scented vapes or the occasional blunt. The sidewalk can also be… let’s say adventurous. But if you’re grabbing beans or taking your drink to go, none of that matters; Because once that cup is in your hand, all you’re thinking about is how damn good it is. Andante isn’t just a coffee stop, it’s a spot for people who actually care about coffee.
We intended to go to Mai Tea two doors down but they have the oddest hours. We had passed right by and my friend commented on how he hadn’t had a good cup of coffee in a while so we pivoted. I walked in and saw the menu and said “I’ve definitely seen this place on Instagram before.” Their menu is pretty customizable and there are some elevated versions of classic drinks. I got an iced latte, and the latte was kind of milky and didn’t have a particularly strong flavor profile. My friend got a pastry but it was dry and not heated enough so I’d pass on that.
Coffee is great, top notch. A little inconsistent - it tasted different today yesterday, and the foam on the cappuccino is less today. Jay is a great barista. Only paper cups and a minimal sitting area in front - for two small groups. This part of Grand is not the best
Andante is my favorite coffee shop! I go there almost every morning the customer service is always amazing the coffee is delicious and Jay is such a cool dude. I always enjoy chatting with him super friendly and makes the best Spanish latte!
