Hands down my favorite place to return Amazon packages. Other Amazon package return places are not as clean or have people who are rude. It is clear to us that the workers here take immense pride in their customer service and are passionate about their work. I have never seen a group handle the packages with such care and speak to us in such a welcoming tone. Sometimes it feels like when I'm there, that I am family. They genuinely all need a raise and bonus from Amazon.
It was my first time in WHOLE FOODS grocery store in Torrance and it was a nice atmosphere, and the food Lady Rebecca was nice and pleasant as I was trying to find me something healthy to eat for lunch, and her choices were very good.
This is the worst Whole Foods I’ve ever been to in MY LIFE. And I used to work at one in the late 90s so I’ve been around. The deli is atrocious. Not only do they put things out super late, there are barely ever any vegan options. Whoever is in charge seems to think all lettuce, salads etc need to have milk or cheese in them. Today, I was shocked, since no food was out I went to the case thinking I was buying the TTLA sandwich they usually have out - which is Tempeh, Tomato, Lettuce, and Avocado. I was shocked when I started eating it to find this $10 sandwich now has NO avocado - a TLT. Look at how pathetic this is. It’s basically just Tempeh and vegan mayonnaise. What a scam. This deli has been awful for 2yrs now (when I first started working in the area). Sometimes I get tired of TJ food which is in the same plaza but every time I give this store a chance it’s a bad experience.
The old man is talking again. He has three things on the belt. Bread. Eggs. A can of soup. He stands close to the counter like it’s cold behind him. The clerk scans slowly. He doesn’t notice. Or maybe he does and doesn’t care. He tells her the tomatoes aren’t what they used to be. Says they used to split open in the sun. Says they smelled like something. She nods. She says, “Yeah,” the way people do when they don’t know what else to say. I look at my watch. I don’t need to. I just want to feel the weight of time in my hand. There are four people behind me now. No one speaks. We all breathe a little louder than we need to. The old man laughs. It’s not a big laugh. It’s dry. He says his wife used to make soup with bones and scraps. “Best you ever had,” he says. Then he adds, “She’s gone now.” The clerk’s face changes. Just a little. She says she’s sorry. He shrugs. Like it’s weather. I shift my feet. I think about dinner at home. The light from the television. The quiet. It will not be so different from his quiet. I don’t like that thought. He asks her what she’s studying. She says business. He says that’s good. Says the world always needs people who understand money. The machine beeps. The receipt prints. He folds it slow. Puts it in his wallet like it matters. He thanks her. Says her name. He must have read it off the tag. No one does that anymore. He pushes his cart away. Now it’s me. The clerk looks at me. “How are you?” I almost say fine. I almost end it there. Instead I say, “Long shift?” She nods. “Yeah.” I nod back. That’s all. The line moves again.
On Fri I wanted to order oysters. This time when I wanted to buy oysters the guy said he couldn’t open them up for me because he had work to do in the back. It was before 8 he had time so that was bad customer service. Past a certain time they don’t open the up but it was before that time. I had ordered oysters there before and they had opened them with not problem the other times but not this time.
