Stayed here on my December vacations and I had the best time. The people who work there are just the best, they help us a lot. The bar tender was the best as well as the chefs. Nice, clean rooms. We got to see the Empire State from our building. The location is close to everything, so highly recommended if you are a tourist in the city and wanna walk and grab the subway. I would definitely come back. They made us feel at home, and made sure we had the best time in New York.
Having stayed at a few hotels in the city, I personally find that the Hyatt Herald Square in Midtown is a great find, and a great value. The hotel is secure which is a huge must for me. The front desk, they are so pleasant, and helpful. Last visit we utilized Valet Parking. While I am sure that I could have found parking for less, the few bucks I spent was worth the no hassle experience. The rooms are spacious, and have everything you need. I understand that everyone is looking for their own experience when they travel, for me it is cleanliness, hospitality, security, location and the feeling that the hotels wants you to stay with them. That is exactly what I find every time I have stayed at the Hyatt Herald Square
First off, excellent staff, kind, responsive, welcoming and helpful. Now for Hyatt - your rooms could use some more lighting, there’s barely any room to even stand with one checked bag. Unless you can staple your suitcases to the walls, I’m unsure where you expect us to place them & have any room to move about. Second, your bathrooms are almost the size of the bedroom - do you want us to sleep in here as well? Common sense would dictate, living space triumphs over toilet space. Third, you’ve cut basically every corner to remain profitable. Your room (marketing) images are misleading, your TVs are from 2010, that cannot chrome cast like your other properties in the city and your amenity fee is basically worthless for what you claim to offer. It’s ok to make your properties revenue generating, but it’s rarely worth if you’re making it a cattle car. For Hyatt elites, if you plan to redeem your points here - don’t. You’re likely getting a dingy corner and an outdated room to make up for the loss.
Unfortunately, the customer service at this hotel was extremely disappointing. Staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and slow to respond to even basic requests. Simple concerns were either ignored or met with attitude instead of solutions. I waited 1 hour for this (see attached photo) lousy breakfast. limited access to Wifi. For a hotel that expects paying guests, professionalism and courtesy were seriously lacking. The stay could have been acceptable if the service had been better, but the poor treatment completely overshadowed everything else. I would not recommend this hotel unless customer service improves drastically.
Not worth the money. Plenty of other hotels that offer better value and have simple basics. Pros Great staff Rooms clean Great location Cons No fridge-has a mini bar fridge with drinks so you can't put own drinks in there so if remove their drinks to put yours in it triggers a charge, sleazy practice. No ironing board-2025 and these owners so cheap they can't provide one like 99% of other hotels. Tv not work One thick curtain so no transparent curtain so if close it is dark, if open everyone can see in. Elevators are slow. Clearly the owners know they have a great location so cheap out at the expense of guests, greed.
