I was here about a month ago the check-in process was very quick, and the staff was friendly and professional. The lobby is well-maintained, and the room itself was very nice. The beds were comfortable, and even with two beds, there was still plenty of space throughout the room. The only downside is that the restroom is a bit small, but aside from that, the room was excellent. The hotel’s location is very convenient, with a subway station right around the corner, about a 10-minute ride to Times Square, and Central Park only an 8-minute walk away. This was my first time visiting New York, and I had a great experience staying at this hotel. I would absolutely recommend it to family and friends and will definitely be booking here again when I return in June.
The management at this hotel is absolutely ridiculous. My flight to New York was cancelled on 2/21 and I never even made it to New York for my reservation. I did the reservation through Priceline and while it did have a no-cancellation stipulation, these were extenuating circumstances. The hotel said I needed to ask Priceline to send an "email requesting cancellation," with proof of flight cancellation provided. They did so. A couple days later I got an email from Priceline that my request was denied. I called the hotel, spoke with a manager who was terribly unhelpful. He kept going round and round in circles saying, "We were unable to accept the request based on the information provided." I said, "Fine, what other information would you like?" He responded that he didn't have an answer and that I would have to contact the third party to re-request a cancellation. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to and he said, "No at this time I'm the only one here." I said, "You must have a supervisor" and then after several go arounds he finally put me through to a voicemail. Priceline told me that the payment was processed directly to the hotel. So, I had to recover that from them. Basically the hotel gladly took $331 dollars for me for a reservation I never checked in to.
I saw the Gold class rooms are recently renovated, the price is acceptable and we needed a twin bed room. So despite of the low ratings, we booked the hotel for 4 nights. It turns out really good. The room is clean and spacious, beds are comfortable. During our stay, it is overall quiet, especially at night. There is a low humming sound but it doesn’t affected us. We stayed in October so no AC is needed. Can’t tell if it would be loud if we leave it on. Staff is easy to talk to and helpful. We drove and parked the car in the parking lot the hotel suggested. We had a guest discount. For 4 days we paid $160 which is not bad in Manhattan. Interesting that the parking lot also got a very low rating. We were worried but it turns out to be alright too!
The hotel really exceeded my expectations! The staff were courteous and on point from the start to end. The room (two doubles) was clean and spacious. Finally the facilities were classy and the location conveniently located next to a subway stop. The only downsides were the elevator was slow and small and our bathroom door squeaky, all else good.
These rooms are very sparse. On one hand, the lack of furniture gives you more floor space than most NYC hotels but on the other hand, the vibe is pretty monastic. Our room had a bed, two small night stands, a desk and a chair. The mini fridge was in the floor. The bathroom felt like one you'd find in a dorm. Everything seemed clean. It's in a great location on the upper west side with easy access to the 2/3 train and options for food but just be prepared for a pretty sparse set up in regards to room ambience and furnishings. If you just need a clean and safe place to lay your head and don't care about ambience and furnishings, then this will fit the bill. It was the cheapest option for the time thst I booked and now I know why!
