We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for the long weekend. We brought with us our 20 lb puppy, and the hotel was very accommodating (including flexible housekeeping to work around our puppy's schedule). In fact, their dog-friendly policies were the main reason we booked this hotel. The room was clean and spacious, with more than enough room for the two of us plus our puppy and her crate. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom amenities (Malin & Goetz) were heavenly. Soundproofing in the rooms was pretty good, despite the usual NYC street noise. Special shoutout to the porter/doorman, Will, who was beyond courteous and helpful throughout our stay! The location was fantastic -- close to all of the main destinations in midtown and major subway lines and within walking distance to Greenwich Village, West Village, downtown, etc. It was also very close to both Bryant Park and Madison Square Park, which our dog enjoyed exploring (note to dog owners, these parks don't have a lot of open grass for dogs, which took our dog a couple days to get used to, though MSP has an artificial turf dog run). We only had one issue with our stay, hence the 4-star rating. We ended up waiting over an hour for the company contracted by Kimpton for valet parking services to retrieve our car. This was despite hotel staff, including the front desk and doorman, repeatedly checking in on the valet and advocating for us. But all in all, we'd love to come back soon!
Stayed at the Kimpton a few weeks back, and the experience was wonderful. The location is phenomenal, and the lobby felt warm and inviting. Housekeeping and room service were consistently kind and attentive throughout our stay. At the end of our trip, we took a car arranged through the hotel to get to the airport. I accidentally left my phone in the car and didn’t realize it until after the driver had left and I was already through security. The hotel located the phone and worked with me (special shout out to Elmer) to get it shipped back to me across the country. I truly appreciate the effort the staff put in to help us, and I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you to everyone at the hotel!
Overall it was a nice hotel. I got this though my Amex travel portal and it was part of their hotel collection. I gave it three stars for a few reasons. For a "luxury" hotel, it was fine, for what we paid, it was not what I would consider luxury. The room had a fantastic view, but it was quite small. And poorly laid out. There was a long hallway to the bedroom part and no room between the window and bed. It felt very cramped. There was also constant noise which I believe was part of the plumbing, and when the heater came on and off it made a loud THUD. Also, as part of the my check in I received some complimentary breakfast vouchers, but no one explained that you had to tell the restaurant that you had the vouchers, and ended up paying. I also received a couple of vouchers for free drinks, and it literally said "drinks on us" at the bar. When we tried to use them they said it did not include any alcoholic drinks. Why would I go to the bar if I didn't want to have an alcoholic drink? Service was great for the most part, but one morning when I asked about how the vouchers worked the front desk woman working seemed like I was bothering her by asking. The location was fantastic, and the view - at least where our room was located - was also fantastic. If you are looking for a great location, definitely choose this one. If you are looking for something more upscale, I would look elsewhere.
Sure, would I rather this hotel was sitting across from Central Park? Duh. But that aside, the people in this hotel went above and beyond during our stay over last weekend (before and DURING the blizzard). Our room (1005) was much more than adequate for NYC even though the street dept was fixing the street in front of our side of the hotel for two days (jackhammering away), but work needs to be done at some point. Hotel common spaces were in excellent condition and staff was pleasant and helpful. Check in staff was great. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it, as well as the bar, was busy. And when mgmt proactively asked if there was anything they could do to make our stay a "5 star" stay, I only casually mentioned a small fridge would be nice - and it was done hours later. I get that it wasn't an impossible ask but it was the "ask" on their part that made it happen. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
This was a nice hotel if you want something in a good location and close to a lot. The room was nice and had plenty of space for us. The tub was a nice bonus but they could definitely put a little more elbow grease into cleaning them. First thing I noticed was definitely the DUST, the top of every fixture and door in our room definitely had not been touched in a while. They also have no water fill station/ ice machine. So you have to go to the front desk for water bottles. Or pay for the ones in the room.
