Absolutely wonderful stay! I stayed for only one night duirng what appeared to be the coldest week of the year in New York, the staff at this hotel could not be warmer. They very generously gave me a complimentary upgrade to a suite that was absolutely marvelous. Beautiful furniture, plenty of space, a bed that was a bit lower to the ground (which I loved), and one of the best showers I've ever experienced in a New York hotel! I am not someone who stays at these types of hotels very often, so this special "treat myself" stay became even more special! I will surely be back and would recommend this to anybody looking to indulge in luxury while in New York.
What an amazing experience! We wanted to experience a nice cocktail at the Bemelmans bar and we happened to arrive on an evening where they had artists in residence, and the bar was closed to patrons not staying in the hotel. However, Dante was amazing! Not only did he take the time to explain the circumstances, but gave us a brief history of the hotel, the hand painting by author , Ludwig Bemelman. Our time with him was a highlight of our trip and what a great experience he created for us despite being able to enjoy the bar that evening. It only motivates us more to stay there on our next visit. Thank you, Dante for an amazing introduction to the Carlyle and leaving a lasting impression on us. We loved our champagne the next day before our departure. Cheers to amazing service and a phenomenal experience.
Our experience here was beyond explainable. The hotel it's self was beautiful! I have to eat gluten free and they had excellent gluten free options. My daughter doesn't have to eat gluten free and her food looked also looked delicious. While we were there, their was an illustrator drawing pictures of every group having tea. Her illustrations made are day and are precious. Our server and server captain was very attentive and polite checking on us daily, asking how the food was. Tea at the Carlyle was a magical experience and I recommend this.
My family of four stayed at the Carlyle for one night. Our experience was overall great! When we first checked in, our room was not ready at the time it was promised, but the concierge was extremely understanding and quickly made it up to us by giving my family a later check-out time. The service at breakfast was okay, as they messed up my drink order multiple times and then got confused whether I had ordered decaf or with caffeine. The housekeeping was so sweet, and even came at 11 at night to give us extra sheets as there were not enough for my brother and me! My family and I shared a deluxe suite, which was extremely big for a NYC hotel room. There was plenty of space for everyone, and a separate living room area. The view from all rooms was amazing, as we were on a high floor and could see everything around us. However, the bathrooms only had one sink and were just very tight. The rooms were also a bit outdated; it didn’t seem like they had been renovated in a long time. The location was ideal, as there was much shopping near and on Madison Avenue. I could walk to some of my favorite stores in under 20 minutes, which was amazing. This restaurant is definitely kid-friendly if you act appropriately, as everybody is nice overall!
I came here for two nights with my daughter and stayed in a room on the 12th floor with two twin beds. The room would not warm up due to the cold temperatures outside. The staff was very responsive and sent up a very kind technician immediately to make sure the heat was working correctly. They told us that due to the building being so old, there wasn't more they could do besides provide space heaters, which helped somewhat. Two and a half weeks after our visit I noticed red bumps on my body and experienced unbearable itching, particularly around my feet at night. After seeing my PCP and a dermatologist, I was eventually diagnosed and treated for scabies. My young daughter thankfully did not get it since we had two separate beds in our room, thank goodness. I had not traveled or stayed anywhere after my trip to New York and nobody else in my family has had any bites or symptoms. I called the hotel to inform them of what had happened. I did not ask for a refund, nor do I want one. I simply asked for a copy of the report showing me that they inspected the bed properly so this hell would not be experienced by future guests. They refused to send me any reports or any documentation at all proving they remedied the situation in the room. They simply stated via email "an outside company tested the room 1212 on Saturday and the results were negative for all biting bugs."
