Saturday, October 15, 2022 I hired Best Choice Painting after a referral from a co-worker, BIG MISTAKE... I spoke to James Yang who gave me a bid to paint 9 interior doors (both sides) and 1 door (1 side only), for a total of 10 doors. The proper prep work was not done and the final result was not acceptable. Their first coat of paint looked thin and streaked and the final coat was not the quality of work that I'm used to. I had to take him to each door and point out where I see white (the original color) in various spots on both sides of the doors that we paid him to paint black. Hmm., he said he was done and cleaned up, but obviously, he needs to fix a lot. It was ridiculous, and I insisted that he leave the rest of the paint for touch ups because I knew there would possibly be problems that I didn't catch. Also, when he arrived, he asked, "What doors are to be painted?" I walked him throughout my home and pointed out the doors to be painted and he painted my master bathroom pocket door that was not part of the bid and had the nerve to text me (I'm simply downstairs) the updated cost and told me it was a total of 11 doors and not 10. I've done many paint jobs around my house including painting a door and the quality of paint that I used gave much better coverage and I cleaned and prepared the door before painting. RUN the other way! I would never have them back in my home. I'm thankful that for my huge painting job and ceiling smoothing, I'm using a company that I know is good and I have a history with them. So much for going out on a limb by a friend's reference for what was supposed to be a simple job that I was going to do myself... Moral of the story, I should have Googled and checked Yelp because I would have cancelled the job had I read the reviews of the poor workmanship. UPDATE: 11/3/22 All of the doors that were painted are chipping and I've had to touch them up with the little amount of paint left in the can. I went to Sherwin Williams to request the same paint (I took Best Choice Painting's paint can with the label on it). The representative informed me that the paint that Best Choice Painting used on my interior doors is a wall paint. He then went on to tell me that they should have used door/trim paint. I even knew that from painting my bar cabinets, but I didn't read his paint cans that he bought into our home. I was ripped off and it disgusts me to know that James Yang came to my home to paint our doors with wall paint. I now have to paint each door again myself with the correct paint and Best Choice Painting ripped us off as they were paid to do a job. They should be stripped of their license.

These people were very pushy and manipulated my elderly parents into painting a rental house that didn't really need painting. Then when my parents changed their minds because it was expensive and they are on a small fixed income the man lost his temper and guilt tripped them into moving forward with painting. Very unprofessional to pressure people into spending a lot of money, especially when you can tell the people don't have a lot of money and are in poor health.
