I have been coming to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles since I was a little kid. I have gone here with school, church, and family over the years. So being back home for the week, I was adamant about taking my Boyfriend here as he loves museums as much or more than I do. My favorite thing has always been the animal rooms with various taxidermy species from all over the world. Some things have changed over time, but there are so many things that still look the same as when I was a child. The entrance has moved to a different location than it used to be and there have been some updates over the years but it is still amazing every time I am there. We visited while they had the "Unearthed: Raw Beauty" exhibit as well as the "Fierce! The Story of Cats" exhibit. Unearthed, is one of the most incredible exhibits I have ever seen here. It was amazing, breath taking and so beautiful. We unfortunately didn't make it through every last room as we were exhausted from our previous few days of activity. This was an amazing experience and it definitely wont be my last visit here.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles is my favorite museum in LA and I love the new addition of Gnatalie the diplodocus. Their dioramas are amazing and among the very few left that carry that early 20th century charm with their large wooden frames and classic taxidermy. It's dimly lit to really add life to the dioramas. There is also an old school taxidermy bird section with hundreds of birds along a straight wall and an interesting animatronic pelican. They have an exhibition on LA history as well as LA underwater. The main highlight (if the dueling tyrannosaurus and tricerotops in the foyer is any indication) is the dinosaurs exhibition. It is well stocked with many American dinosaurs, mostly Jurassic and Cretaceous, such as stegosaurus, allosaurus, parasourolophus, and even California's official state dinosaur: Augustynolophus! They did such a phenomenal job with this exhibition. Hidden on the second floor is their dinosaur lab where other fossils are still being worked on, including the Triassic coelophysis!! I also really loved the Charles R. Knight paleoart. Exciting stuff. The building is gorgeous, the exhibits are too notch, and the are several areas for kids that offer hands-on experiences and animal showings. There is also South LA Cafe in the front and another Cafe downstairs. Oh, and the gift shop is nice, but a little pricey.

A very fun activity to do while in Los Angeles and easily a good three hour mid day pass time . Parking may be difficult to access but once you get in it’s straightforward. The museum is well maintained and upkeep is good. Out doors area with plenty of spots for kids to play and run around . Restaurant cafeteria serves classic fair but also has gluten free options . Definitely something to attend if you are in the LA area and have kids .

An extraordinarily well maintained museum with superb exhibits on dinosaurs, human history, LA history and much much else. Parking can be expensive and a challenge. The cafe is meh. There’s no audio guide shockingly. Outside of that, the quality of the exhibits and the building and breadth and depth of exhibits is stunning. You can spend the whole day here and still have much to see and learn. Kudos to the curators and friendly staff.

It's been a long time since the last time I was here nearly 25 years, now as an adult im glad I was able to come here. The exhibition are very diverse with cool displays obvious don't touch, only look. Learn the history that these animals roaming in our city and the city it self. Although I wasn't able to exploring the entire facility cause of I came before closing maybe next time. If your an LA county resident its free just show ID or valid credentials its from 3 to 5pm. Staff is super friendly and don't worry they won't come alive.
