Unfortunately, this stay was quite disappointing due to the condition of the room. The facilities are very old and poorly maintained. The soundproofing is extremely bad — we could clearly hear cars passing by downstairs, and even noise from a street protest, as if the windows were open. It was very difficult to rest properly. On top of that, the air conditioner was extremely loud, sounding like a ventilation fan or air blower. It was impossible to sleep with the air conditioning on. The bathroom was a major issue. The bathtub drain was clogged, and when using the shower, the water took around 4–5 minutes to drain after just one minute of running. This caused water to accumulate quickly and made showering very inconvenient. Additionally, the refrigerator door would not close properly, which was frustrating and clearly indicates a lack of maintenance. The only positive aspect of the stay was the front desk staff, who were polite and helpful. However, nice service cannot make up for the poor room conditions. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made.
The rooms are beautiful and modern, like what you expect from a Japanese hotel. But the service is atrocious, specifically Jin from the group booking department. Is he even Japanese? This is definitely not the Japanese hospitality one would receive normally. This guy ignores emails or just simply doesn’t want to communicate. I had to call the hotel 10x and more and not ONCE was I ever able to reach out to him because they never freaking pick up. The front desk was nice but useless because they are not in charge of group bookings. Even after requesting for a group contract 3x, he claimed that I never did even with the written proof. Do not bother working with Jin.
Extremely inconvenient and outdated parking policy. We used the valet service at this hotel while having a full family dinner at the restaurant — four children with us. When we went to pick up the car, we were informed that valet payment could only be made in cash or at the front desk with a physical card. I didn’t have my wallet with me, as I’ve been using tap-to-pay everywhere. After waiting in a long line at the front desk, I was told that I must present a physical ID and the physical credit card. Even though the payment terminals clearly support contactless payments, the hotel does not allow tap-to-pay due to internal policy. As a result, we were stuck for almost an hour trying to retrieve our car. I had to wait for a friend to bring cash, since nearby ATMs also do not support contactless withdrawals. A modern hotel in Downtown that refuses contactless payments in 2026 creates unnecessary stress for families. After a full dinner with four kids, spending another hour just to get your own car is unacceptable. If you plan to use valet services here, make sure you bring cash or a physical card to avoid serious inconvenience.
Definitely one of the better hotels I have stayed at! The staff were helpful and the rooms were great. They helped us out so much when our festival got postponed for another weekend (camp flog gnaw ahem). Will come back to this hotel.
The DTLA DoubleTree cancelled our reservation as we were riding in from the airport - it was raining & apparently our room wasn't waterproof. The Miyako was the next closest hotel, but we had no idea if they had any room for us. However Jose at the front desk patiently & happily walked us through several options until we got the room that was right for us. Indeed our entire stay was a delight. Like the DoubleTree, the Miyako is not a new hotel by any means, but unlike the DoubleTree it is lovingly cared for & maintained. If you would like to experience Little Tokyo or any other attractions in DTLA, I would highly recommend the Miyako Hotel for your stay.
