Came here for dinner on a Thursday night & it was amazing! Staff is so so nice and the food is great. Portion sizes are big enough to share & I loved the overall ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. Definitely recommend the yellowtail jalepeno, BSCR roll, and the OMG roll. So good. I even took some home and it was still just as good the next day.

One bite tasted a little off. Presentation is so pretty. Sweet vibes at 2 pm! I changed tables (pretty empty, wanted a spot where I felt safer and had a better view) and the waitress kindly didn't give me any flack for it. Highly rec!

Topped with caviar, spicy sauce, and pickled onion. The bluefin otoro just melts in your mouth! 🦀 King Crab Tart Buttery crust filled with sweet king crab. A hint of chili powder adds a nice kick. 🥑 Salmon & King Crab Avocado Roll Rich black truffle aroma with tender salmon and crab. The tangy sauce balances everything perfectly. 🍲 Sukiyaki Bowl Warm beef and onion broth with veggies—so comforting in winter. 🍔 Hamburger Steak Sizzling plate with a runny egg, savory patty, and mushroom onion sauce. Tastes just like loco moco! A Westwood hidden gem—especially for students nearby!

Stopped by Kopan Izakaya in Westwood while visiting a friend at UCLA, and it’s such a great new spot, The sushi and sashimi were fresh, especially the scallop, salmon belly, and yellowtail belly. I loved the yuzu miso black snapper with its crispy skin and bright citrusy sauce, and the seafood udon was surprisingly flavorful with a rich broth. The uni donburi was generous too! Overall, a solid place for sushi near campus

New Sushi Spot Opens Near UCLA! 🍣 Walkable & Great Quality 👍🏻 This new place in Westwood deserves a big shoutout! It used to be Ami, but now it’s completely reopened under a new management team, and the whole restaurant feels fresh and upgraded. The vibe is still relaxed and fun, but the highlight is: the flavor and quality have leveled up ⬆️⬆️⬆️! It was once famous among UCLA students for its lively sake nights—super energetic. Now, not only is the vibe still great, but the sushi, sashimi, and hot dishes are clearly more refined, and the ingredients feel fresher. They prep everything daily and finish it the same day, so every bite tastes fresh. There aren’t many sushi spots in this area—mostly Italian restaurants—so Kopan really stands out with its beautiful presentation and impressive flavors. Perfect for date nights too! Here’s what we ordered: • Mixed Tempura: light, crispy batter and not oily. Loved the pumpkin 🎃 and shrimp! • Negitoro Donburi: toro + uni… say no more, super satisfying. • Spicy Kaisen Udon: mildly spicy with a rich, creamy seafood broth. • Yuzu Miso Black Snapper Crudo: refreshing, delicate, and plated like art. • Ginza Sushi: chef’s daily selection of sushi—every piece was amazing 👍🏻 They currently have a BOGO deal: buy one sushi roll, get the second one 50% off! Perfect for ordering more varieties to share. They’re open until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it a great late-night option!
